ifolor Designer for Windows
Click on "Start" at the bottom left (Windows key + S key)
Enter the name of your photo book and press Enter.
A new window with the search results will open.
You can now see the file path where your photo book is saved. Open that path and move the photo book files to the following folder: Documents\ifolor\Photobooks
The photo books will now appear again in ifolor Designer as usual.
When you are in your project, click on “Options” on the left
Under “Number of pages” you can change the number of pages and confirm with “OK”.
- Drag the corresponding double page with the mouse button pressed down
- Move the double page to the desired position
- Leave the mouse button
Unfortunately, single pages cannot be moved
Open your project and click on the “Options” tab at the top.
Select “Change photo book”.
Choose the desired format or type of photo book.
A copy of your book will automatically be created in the new format – your original project will be kept as a backup.
Please read the displayed notes carefully.
Before completing your order, carefully review your photo book using the preview function – especially the image layout and all texts.
You can create a copy of the book by hovering over the project in the program's home screen and clicking the gray box with three dots that appears on the right. Select "create a copy" from the drop-down menu.
Enter your desired text and adjust it as needed (e.g. font size, font style, color, etc.).
Click the plus icon (“Create”) at the bottom left to save the text style.
Under “Saved text styles”, select your created tile and click the star icon (“Set as default”).
- The country of delivery is defined during installation and can only then be changed by reinstalling the software
- Please reinstall the ifolor Designer and select the correct country of delivery
- During reinstallation, only the program data will be overwritten. The photo books that you have already created will remain on your PC and can continue to be opened as usual afterwards
You can transfer an entire book to another computer by simply copying the folder with the book’s name. You’ll find it under:
Start > Documents > ifolor > Photobooks
or in Windows Explorer:
C:\Users*YourUsername*\Documents\ifolor\Photobooks*
Copy this folder to the new computer and place it in the same directory. This folder is automatically created when installing the ifolor Designer.
After launching ifolor Designer on the new computer, the transferred books will appear directly on the start screen and can be opened as usual.
- Open your photo book in ifolor Designer
- Create a page or double page that you want to save as a template
- Now right-click on the background of your template and select: Page layout > Save the page or Page Layout > Save the Double Page
- Now you will get a message if you want to save the template with or without images
- The saved templates are now stored under the tab "Layout" in "Own Pages"
- Please note that the templates are always only visible with the same formats. e.g. a template in A4 portrait cannot be inserted into a photo book A4 landscape."
- Open your photo book in ifolor Designer
- Click on the settings at the top right (cogwheel icon)
- Select "Positioning aid" in the left column
- Now set the item to "Align according to elements"
- Open your photo book in ifolor Designer
- Click on the settings at the top right (cogwheel icon)
- Select "Positioning aid" in the left column
- Place a check mark next to "Show auxiliary grid"
- Select the desired grid width and confirm everything with "OK"
If the photos have been edited by your photographer, such as wedding pictures (mostly color space, contrast, etc.), it is important that you switch off image optimization when designing one of our products. Otherwise, the activated image optimization would completely overflow the photographer's processing (images are too light/dark, color casts, etc.).
If you have "normal" unedited images, such as smartphone images, it is important that you leave image optimization active when designing one of our products.
When you open your project in ifolor Designer, you can switch image optimization on and off individually for each inserted image by right-clicking --> Image optimization.
If you want to switch off image optimization completely, click on the settings at the top right (cogwheel symbol), then select "Images" in the left-hand column and remove the checkmark from "Activate general image optimization in the lab".
To ensure your photo is printed in the desired format, you need to crop the image accordingly.
Here’s how:
-
Drag the desired image into the product.
-
Click the pencil icon in the upper left corner of the image tile.
-
Select “Crop.”
-
Choose the desired format. We recommend the 3:2 or 2:3 aspect ratio, as it matches the classic photo format and works best for our prints.
You can find all information about available formats here:

If the dimensions of the image do not allow it, you can change the design of the photo canvas and choose a template with a frame.
