What can you write in a personalised Christmas card?
Sending Christmas cards is a long-held tradition of sending personal Christmas wishes to loved ones from afar. Just a few kind words to wish them a merry Christmas and a happy new year are enough. Add some variety and originality by sending your Christmas message as a verse of your favourite Christmas song or even a personally written rhyme. For the more creative people, recreate a famous Christmas carol or poem while adding your own personal touch. Your Christmas card is guaranteed to be memorable!
Where does the tradition of sending a Christmas card come from?
In the late Middle Ages Christmas greetings in the form of letters or religious pictures were being sent to relatives by post. Although this was considered particularly graceful, it required a lot of time and effort. A British called Sir Henry Cole first had the idea of an illustrated card with a Christmas image on the front and warm but brief message the back. He commissioned the painter John Callcott Horsley, who illustrated a card with a Christmas family celebration - the first Christmas card was born. In the beginning, only wealthy people could afford to send Christmas cards as the individual illustration work was expensive. As time went by, the Christmas card quickly gained popularity and is now a global tradition.
When should I order my Christmas cards to ensure they arrive on time?
As a rule, the delivery time for ifolor photo greeting cards is four working days. However, we receive a lot of orders in the run-up to Christmas. So, it's best to design and order your Christmas cards as early as possible so that you have enough time in case of any delays. If you want to post your Christmas cards to your loved ones, you should also consider the time it takes to post it onward. The post office is usually very busy during the Christmas season, so it’s a good idea to plan well ahead to ensure that your cards reach your friends and family on time.
