However, we receive a lot of orders in the run-up to Christmas, so it’s best to design and order your Christmas cards as early as possible. That way, you’re prepared in case delivery takes a little longer.
If you’re planning to post your Christmas cards to your loved ones, remember to allow time for them to reach their recipients too. The post is famously busy at Christmas, so it’s worth leaving a little extra time to make sure your greetings reach your friends, colleagues and relatives in time.

What should you write in a Christmas card?

Christmas cards are a ​​popular way to send personal Christmas greetings to loved ones, even from afar. A few kind words wishing the recipient a merry Christmas and a happy New Year are all it takes. ​​​​​​For a bit of variety and originality​​, you could write your greetings as a rhyme of your own or add a line from your favourite Christmas song. ​​​​The especially creative​ can ​​​adapt​​ well-known Christmas songs​​ or poems​​​​, giving ​the card​​​​ ​​​a personal touch. That way, your Christmas card is sure to be remembered.

Inspiration for your Christmas card messages

If you can’t quite find the right words, here are a few ideas for your Christmas cards:

• Classic and heartfelt: “May this Christmas fill your home with light, laughter and the people who mean the most to you.”
• As a little rhyme: “Candles glowing, biscuits baking: Christmas cheer is in the making.”
• Personal and grateful: “Thank you for being by our side this year. I can’t wait for everything the new year has in store for us.”
• For the little ones: “Father Christmas told us you’re right at the top of the nice list. Keep it up and Merry Christmas!”

Where does the tradition of sending Christmas cards come from?

As early as the late Middle Ages, Christmas greetings were sent by post to ​​relatives​​ in the form of letters or devotional pictures. ​​Later, Briton Sir Henry Cole came up with the idea of an illustrated card with a festive scene on the front and ​short, ​warm​​ greetings on the back. ​In 1843, he commissioned ​​​​the painter John Callcott Horsley​ ​​to illustrate a card showing a family Christmas celebration​​​​​​ – and the first Christmas card was born. At first, sending Christmas cards was reserved for the wealthy, as the hand-painted illustrations were expensive. Even so, the Christmas card quickly grew in popularity and is now a tradition known around the world.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Your Christmas cards will usually be delivered within four working days of your order being received. In the run-up to Christmas, however, it’s best to order a little earlier, as both ifolor and the post handle far more orders and parcels than usual at this time of year.

Can I design a Christmas card without using my own photo?

Yes, you’re not limited to a classic photo. You can also upload a scanned image (such as your child’s drawing) or an illustration (as long as you own the rights to it) and turn it into your very own Christmas card. It’s a lovely way to turn drawings and other artwork into a real Christmas surprise.

Can I use different photos within a set of 10?

No, the same photo and design are used for all ten cards in a set of 10. It’s not currently possible to use a different photo for each card. If you’d like to send different photos or designs to different recipients, it’s best to order several single greeting cards.
